Ford analyzes increasing production and hiring personnel

Toyota and Peugeot They are analyzing increasing the pace of activity from next year, as a consequence of the improvement in the domestic market and the recovery of exports.

Ford is also defining a growth in the manufacturing volume of the Ranger pickup which is produced at the General Pacheco plant. This model is in the middle of a fight for second place in the segment with the Volkswagen Amarok. The leadership has been held, for years, by the Toyota Hilux.

Although the American brand’s model is above the German one in annual cumulative operations, since the “restyling” of the latter’s vehicle three months ago, The Amarok moved the Ranger to third place.

It cannot be said that this increase in production has directly to do with this situation – in the oval concessionaire network they recognize that they did not have the necessary units available – but it occurs in this context. It is estimated that for the remainder of the year, Amarok will remain above Ranger. Only in 2025 could there be a change.

It’s true that the Ranger has a good export demand and that requires increasing the production rate to supply the internal and external markets without bottlenecks.

More than 65% of the units manufactured in Pacheco are exported, especially to Brazil. The new data is the confirmation by the company that it is analyzing a plan to increase production.

During the event of the fifteenth edition of the National Technical Skills Competition (CNHT) held by Ford, the communications manager of the automotive company, Osvaldo Santiexplained that a possible increase in production is being analyzed.

Today we are working at a rate of 305 pickups per day. The idea would be to increase that volume starting next year. It is not yet determined how much the increase would be.but it would be an intermediate amount between those 305 units and about 350. This improvement would be made by reducing the time between the start of production of one pickup and the other, what is known as “takt time.”

For this increase in activity, there are also plans to incorporate personnel. The number of workers that would be added is also not defined, although the number would be significantly higher than 100 workers. The plans for these terminals would mark a change in trend with respect to what is happening this year.

In the accumulated of the first ten months of the year, car production reached 414,852 units, that is, it registered a decrease of 19.8% compared to the volume that was manufactured between January and October 2023 (517,173 units), as reported the association that brings together automotive companies (ADEFA).

With 21 business days of activity – one more than the previous month – the automotive terminals produced 52,419 units in October, 5.7% above the records of the previous September and 0.9% more compared to 12 months ago when They manufactured 51,937 units.
