Watch the video: Biden and Scholz emphasize consistency in Ukraine aid.
STORY: US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz have emphasized their joint support for Ukraine in its defense against Russia. Both countries are pulling together and strengthening the NATO military alliance, Biden said on Friday before the Chancellor’s visit to the White House. At the meeting, Scholz emphasized the allies’ help to Ukraine: “It is important that we act together, that we move in step and have shown that we can give Ukraine the support it needs. And it is just as important that we make it clear: we will carry on as long as it takes, as long as it takes. We will stand by Ukraine for as long as it takes.” The Chancellor had flown to Washington to have a private talk with Biden about further developments in Ukraine. Observers assumed that both politicians will also talk about dealing with China and US subsidies for climate-friendly technologies.
