A French journalist has died in a rocket attack in Ukraine. As the French news agency AFP reports, its video journalist Arman Soldin was killed in the afternoon near the eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut. The city has been heavily contested for months. A good 70,000 people lived there before the Russian war of aggression, but it has now been almost completely destroyed.

French President Emmanuel Macron wrote on Twitter that the pain of Soldin’s relatives and colleagues was shared. “From the first hours of the conflict he was at the front to establish facts. To inform us.” AFP wrote on Twitter about the death of their journalist: “All our thoughts go to his family and loved ones.” According to Reporters Without Borders, six journalists were killed in Ukraine last year. This year, before Soldin, another reporter died on duty in the country attacked by Russia.
