If only some of the British people had known what they were letting themselves in for when they elected David Cameron as Prime Minister in 2010. In 2016, he kicked open the door to Brexit when he called the referendum. At the time, he was sure that the result would be in favor of the European Union. The electorate proved him wrong.

The terms of office of his successors – from Theresa May to Rishi Sunak – should be shaped by the consequences of Brexit, as will the impact on a possible second term for Sunak, or on a potential Labour Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
