A new president has been elected in the USA. Europe is struggling to find another common line on Ukraine. Their President Zelensky warns against weakness and concessions to Kremlin leader Putin.
With a view to Russia’s war of aggression, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused European partners of pressuring his country to make concessions to Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin. “This is unacceptable for Ukraine and suicidal for Europe,” Zelensky said during his appearance at the European Political Community (EPG) summit in Budapest. It is illusory to believe that a just peace can be achieved by making concessions to Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin. “Peace is only a reward for the strong,” Europe must show unity and strength because the war ordered by Putin is undermining security across the entire continent.
Zelensky did not mention any specific names in his speech. The Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban recently called for a new EU strategy for Ukraine, which is attacked by Russia, which is probably aimed at accommodating the Russians.
Russia wants “global power – control over Ukraine and then – over all of you, as was once the case under Soviet or imperial rule,” Zelensky said to Europe’s heads of state and government. By deploying North Korean soldiers, Putin escalated the war again. “North Korea is now essentially waging war in Europe.”
