Björn Höcke in the Bundestag? Why this could become a problem for the AfD
Copy the current link
The Thuringian AfD leader Björn Höcke flirted twice with the idea of moving to the Bundestag. This time, however, he might choose to take the risk.
The AfD says he’s thinking a lot right now. This time he struggled particularly hard with himself. He will decide very soon.
Him: This is Björn Höcke. The man who leads the state party and the state parliamentary group in Thuringia, which is very unorganized. But also the man who has long been the AfD’s best-known and most notorious politician.
The question Höcke is thinking about is the same one he asked himself in 2017 and 2021: Will he venture out of his Thuringian comfort zone? Is he taking risks to continue his self-imposed mission in the Bundestag? Or will he chicken out again and finally show himself to be what the majority of the party leadership believes he is: a pseudo-giant from the provinces?
