An Israeli-British hostage has been freed from Hamas control. But the brutal kidnapping left her with lasting injuries.
Emily Damari, one of three Israeli hostages released in Gaza, lost two fingers during the Hamas abduction. Several Israeli media outlets reported this unanimously, citing Damari’s family. The young woman’s bandaged hand could also be seen in pictures from a joint video call between the 28-year-old and her mother and relatives. Another photo of Damari and her mother published by the Israeli government also showed her apparently damaged hand.
Damari has both Israeli and British citizenship. She was abducted from her home on Kibbutz Kfar Aza during the Hamas massacre on October 7, 2023. In the pictures from the video call with relatives, she was seen beaming and reunited with her mother Mandy.
