Unauthorized entry: main origin of origin of Syria and Ukraine

Returns are only possible where there are border controls. This has been the case at all German land borders since mid -September. The dispute overshadows the election campaign.
The unauthorized entry found by the federal police recently mainly affected people from Syria, Ukraine, Afghanistan and Turkey. This emerges from a response from the Federal Government to a parliamentary request from the DIE LINKE group, which is available to the German Press Agency. According to this, 20.6 percent of the people who wanted to enter Germany in the second half of 2024 without a corresponding permission. Almost every fifth was a citizen of Ukraine.
Not every Ukrainian is allowed to enter
Ukrainian citizens do not have to apply asylum in order to enter and maintain protection in Germany or another EU state. The countries of the European Union had agreed on this after the beginning of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.
However, this does not mean that every Ukrainian and every Ukrainian can automatically enter, the Federal Government explains in its answer. As a reason, it says: “Ukrainian citizens who have been living abroad for many years are not at risk from the fighting in Ukraine.” Therefore, there is no need for protection for them. Laying residence for other reasons without the required visa for the long -term stay is not possible on the basis of the corresponding regulation.
As can be seen from the data provided by the Federal Government, the number of unauthorized entry from 127,549 in 2023 dropped to 83,572 last year. The proportion of people without an entry permit, which intended to apply to the federal police in Germany, was also significantly lower.
Less than every fourth place made an asylum application
According to the federal government, the officials registered an asylum application in around 23 percent of the unauthorized persons at the border last year. In the previous year, the proportion was still 44.7 percent. The group’s assumptions of the group Die Linke, against the background of political expectations, could virtually pass asylum requests from the federal police in order to be rejected in order to be able to reject directly.
The left-wing MP, Clara Bünger, says: “Migration policy has completely moved away from reality.” In the discussion about the demands of Union faction leader Friedrich Merz (CDU) after extensive rejections at the land borders, it is completely lost that the federal police have already rejected many people. “In 2024, more than 40,000 people were affected, probably also many asylum seekers,” Bünger suspects.
There have been inpatient controls at all German land borders since September 16. This is actually not intended in the Schengen area and only permitted for a limited period. Among other things, people who do not apply asylum or against whom there is an entry ban are rejected.
