Germany is divided into 299 constituencies that are tailored to the fact that around 250,000 inhabitants are currently living in a constituency. The constituencies must have an almost equally large population so that all voices are the same. According to the Federal Election Act, deviations from this notification must not be more than 15 percent of the average population of constituencies. If the deviation is over 25 percent, the constituencies must be re -cut.
