The Carinthian beat four colleagues in front of him with the best time in the final on Saturday. Second was the Swiss Marco Odermatt, three hundredths of a second behind, third was the Norwegian Rasmus Windingstad (+0.36). Schwarz achieved the first Austrian giant slalom victory in the World Cup since that of Marcel Hirscher on January 12, 2019 in Adelboden.
Stefan Brennsteiner took fifth place, Raphael Haaser came in ninth. Patrick Feurstein, Roland Leitinger and Dominik Raschner dropped out in the first round, Manuel Feller was 13th at half-time. in the second.
Odermatt acknowledged his drive to the best time in the first round with a derogatory gesture because of the borderline conditions and spoke of a “race at the limit”.
