The 32-year-old Styrian won the silver medal at the Freestyle World Championships in Georgia on Sunday. It is Ofner’s first medal at a major event. Gold went to the dominator and defending champion Sandra Näslund from Sweden, bronze to Fanny Smith from Switzerland.
In the men’s competition, the last Austrians said goodbye in the quarterfinals. The 22-year-old Italian Simone Deromedis celebrated a surprise victory in front of Florian Wilmsmann (GER) and Erik Mobärg (SWE).
Because of the wind and too much fresh snow, the medal decisions could only be made at the third attempt. The crossers experience a big day of fighting. From 11.30 a.m. the team competition was also on the program.
