Just Fontaine scored 13 goals at the 1958 World Cup in Sweden. A brand that has never been surpassed at a World Cup finals.
His goals saw France reach their first World Cup semi-finals, where they were defeated by eventual champions Brazil.
Fontaine was not originally intended for the tournament. With the higher rated attackers Thadee Cisowski and Rene Bliard still injured, Fontaine was called up at the last minute.
His career ended prematurely after he broke his leg twice in 1962 at the age of 28.
