The youngster is in the lead after the first round: Lucas Braathen, in second place, is heading for his first crystal ball after the first round of the World Cup slalom in Soldeu. The 22-year-old Norwegian is 0.26 seconds behind the Swiss Ramon Zenhousen, but in front of his closest pursuer Henrik Kristoffersen (5./+0.80). Braathen defends a 32-point lead against his compatriot and world champion.
Zenhäusler also still has chances of scoring, but would need at least a win and at the same time Braathen’s failure. The Tyrolean Fabio Gstrein is third (+0.55) on course for the podium, and Manuel Feller is also up there in sixth (+0.84). Marco Schwarz is tenth, Adrian Pertl is 16th. The Austrians have already said goodbye to the ball race in a collectively inconsistent slalom season. Braathen showed the fastest momentum in Andorra, at times leading Kristoffersen by 1.21s, but then made a serious mistake. There are four Norwegians in the top eight.
