The white winner’s shirt had green spots on Oliver Glasner’s slide on the Stuttgart lawn, but Eintracht Frankfurt’s coach didn’t care on Wednesday. “The diver is simply part of our great triumphs,” said the Upper Austrian on “Sky”: “I just wanted to enjoy it, and that’s why I went there again.”
The Eintracht fans were meant, who also celebrated the coach extensively after the 3-2 semi-final victory in the DFB Cup at VfB Stuttgart. “The fans sang Eintracht vom Main. I just soaked it up again,” said Glasner, and he admitted: “The last few weeks were relatively exhausting for all of us. And then the diver had to be there again.”
A well-known celebration ritual by Oliver Glasner: The “Diver”:
The series of nine Bundesliga games without a win had increased criticism of the coach, and speculation about a possible premature end to the collaboration this summer increased. The move into the cup final on June 3rd in the Berlin Olympic Stadium against RB Leipzig should ensure significantly more peace for the Europa League winner of 2022.
Instead of showing any possible satisfaction, Glasner preferred to praise his players after the thrilling semi-final fight. “If you’re in two finals with Eintracht Frankfurt in two years, once in the Europa League and once in the DFB Cup, then I just have to pay the boys a huge compliment,” said the 48-year-old: “I’m so incredibly proud that we turned this game here today and won 3-2.” The players would give “everything for Eintracht, everything for the eagle” in every game.
