In the end, it turned out to be a good compromise solution that the two traditional Wels clubs WSC/Hertha and FC Wels were able to present together yesterday. There is no merger, but a game community in which both clubs play a clear role. And this is what the cornerstones of the collaboration presented yesterday look like:
The fighting teams: In the regional league, WSC Hogo Hertha/FC DMS Wels will start in the future. In the Upper Austrian league, the club name is exactly the opposite. This way both clubs can keep their identity. However, due to the syndicate form, it is easier to swap players between clubs. It is also theoretically no longer possible to play derbies in the future, because in a syndicate a club has to play a league below the club that is represented higher up. This isn’t a problem because WSC/Hertha are already planning for the Bundesliga in the medium term. Both clubs remain legally and economically separate.
The Venue: The biggest difference to the past concerns the choice of stadium. The regional league team will also play their games in the Huber Arena in future, where only FC Wels is currently playing. The Mauth Stadium is mainly used for youth training up to U13.
The league classification: Like this year, one team will compete in the regional league and one in the Upper Austrian league. You would only lose your place in the Upper Austrian league in the unlikely event that another regional league team, Vöcklamarkt, was relegated to the Upper Austrian league and the Wels team had to be relegated as a result.
