National team: Nagelsmann: No big changes against Netherlands

Never change a winning team: Julian Nagelsmann also thinks this English football wisdom is correct. The national coach now wants to “go through with his idea” against the Netherlands.

After the successful start to the European Championship year, Julian Nagelsmann wants to stick to his basic formation in the second tournament test against the Netherlands. “It is not planned that we will make changes six or seven times,” said the national coach after the national soccer team’s 2-0 win in France regarding personnel considerations for the game against arch-rivals Holland on Tuesday in Frankfurt.

After the intense game against the World Cup finalists yesterday in Lyon, he still has to wait and see how the “players react”. No DFB player had any noticeable fitness or health problems immediately after the game in Lyon.

Last game before European Championship nomination

Nagelsmann decided on his starting eleven early on before the France duel and assigned clear roles throughout the squad. “We will go through with the idea,” he announced. Most of the players in the squad are used to the rhythm of two games within three days, the 36-year-old noted. It is possible that the national coach will change during the game against Oranje.

The game against the Netherlands is the last opportunity for Nagelsmann to check out his staff before being nominated for the European Championship. He will name his 23-player squad for the home tournament at the end of May. Afterwards, before the European Championship starts on June 14th in Munich against Scotland, there are only two international test matches on June 3rd in Nuremberg against Ukraine and on June 7th in Mönchengladbach against Greece.
