The Justice decided Temporarily suspend the trial against Colombian soccer player Sebastián Villawho faces accusations of alleged sexual abuse of a 27-year-old girl.
The debate, scheduled to begin on April 1 in the criminal courts of Lomas de Zamora, was interrupted due to a recusal request presented by both the defense of the accused as by the legal representatives of the complainant.
Claudia Randich, legal assistant of the Oral Criminal Court number 4 of Lomas de Zamora, confirmed that the suspension will remain until the Superior Court resolves the requirements raised by both parties.
The judicial process was scheduled to begin next week, but now a new date is awaited.
The soccer player, who is currently in Bulgaria as part of the Beroa team, face this accusation after having been previously sentenced last June to two years and one month in prison for gender violence against his ex-partner Daniela Cortes.
A new conviction could mean that the Colombian soccer player will be imprisoned.
The accusation against Villa is based on the crime of “sexual abuse with carnal access” to the detriment of Rocío Tamara Doldan, 27 years old, with a potential sentence of 15 years in prison.
According to the file, the events occurred in June 2021 in a home in Country Venado II, in Canning, Esteban Echeverría district.
During the night in question, Villa, along with Doldan and other close friends, were at said residence.
According to the investigation, at one point, the player would have verbally and physically attacked Doldan, preventing her from leaving the place.
The footballer is alleged to have put her in a helpless state before allegedly sexually abusing her.
The complainant claimed that Villa locked her in a room, sexually assaulted her, and then attempted to prevent her from reporting the incident by offering her money the next day.
Although the player expressed his intention to return to the country to face the judicial process, Justice gave him an ultimatum: his absence in the process could result in an international arrest warrant against him.
The suspension of the trial leaves the outcome of this case pending, which will continue its course once the requirements raised by the parties involved are resolved.
