Thomas Müller is one of the experienced players in the German European Championship squad. And since the successful 2014 World Cup, he knows how to win major titles with the DFB team. He still believes in it now.
Thomas Müller firmly believes that he has a chance of winning the European Championship in his own country. “Yes, we can absolutely do that,” said the German national soccer player in response to a question on “ntv.de”. The Bayern professional’s optimism also has something to do with national coach Julian Nagelsmann. He has got the national team back on track, said Müller.
“Especially the process after the November international matches, where we suffered two crushing defeats, up to the March international matches and the restructuring of the squad, the team around Julian has given a lot of thought,” said the offensive player.
The 34-year-old is part of Nagelsmann’s provisional squad for the European Championships in the summer. Mats Hummels and Leon Goretzka, however, did not make it into the squad. Müller has no advice or consolation in such cases. “That’s an impossibility, unfortunately,” he said. “This event, this climax, especially in Germany, you can’t magic it away with arguments, and unfortunately you can’t do much to help those who weren’t nominated.”
The German team will face Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland in the preliminary round at the European Championships (June 14th – July 14th).
