The real countdown to the European Championship in Germany began for Austria’s national football team with the training camp in Windischgarsten on March 29. The number of Upper Austrians that ÖFB team manager Ralf Rangnick relies on is also remarkable.

An absolute leader is a defender Gernot Trauner (32). However, the Feyenoord Rotterdam legionnaire has repeatedly struggled with injury problems, which is why his fight for a place in the final squad has also become a race against time.

In goal is the native of Linz Heinz Lindner (33) returned in time after his cancer, which had previously cost him the number one spot in the national team. LASK goalkeeper Tobias LawalWolfsberg offensive player Thierno Ballo was, as expected, on the chopping block. For the 22-year-old, who comes from the Ivory Coast and came to Linz at the age of five, being called up to the squad for the training course in Windischgarsten was already a success.
