Another acquittal: Horner case: Red Bull employee fails in appeal

Christian Horner can now finally put an end to his Formula 1 affair. The Red Bull employee’s appeal was also unsuccessful.

Formula 1 team boss Christian Horner is no longer under pressure in the scandal surrounding his allegedly inappropriate behavior. The parent company Red Bull GmbH considered the new complaint by a former employee of Max Verstappen’s racing team to be unfounded. Horner had already been acquitted at the end of February following an initial investigation by an independent lawyer.

The employee had lodged an objection against this. But another independent lawyer also came to the conclusion that the appeal was unfounded. Red Bull accepted this conclusion, the company announced. The internal process was thus concluded.

Horner emerges stronger from affair

“The complainant exercised her right to appeal and the appeal was conducted by another independent KC (Kings Councel). All stages of the appeal process have now been completed, with the final outcome that the appeal is not upheld,” Red Bull said.

The employee had accused Horner of “inappropriate behavior.” The 50-year-old, who has been married to former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell since 2015, has always denied the allegations. However, the subsequent emergence of saucy emails gave the matter renewed momentum.

Complaint to the World Federation

On February 5, Red Bull made the employee’s alleged allegations public after the Dutch newspaper “De Telegraaf” first reported on them. After the initial investigation, it was stated at the time that “Red Bull is convinced that the investigation was fair, thorough and impartial.”

The Red Bull employee in question is also said to have filed a complaint with the world motorsport association FIA and contacted the FIA Ethics Commission.
