The Chilean National Government clarified certain additional points that must be taken into account after processing the CVI.
- It is not necessary for the owner or person responsible for the pet to be present during the processing of the International Veterinary Certificate (CVI), which considerably simplifies the process. In addition, CVI consular visa is not required.
- It is essential provide the address in Chile where the animal will reside and specify whether it will travel alone or accompanied, since this information is key to the correct issuance of the CVI.
- Although Anti-rabies antibody titer is not requiredIt is important that puppies or kittens who have been vaccinated or are under 90 days old have received the rabies vaccine at least 21 days before entering Chile.
- It is not necessary for the animal to be identified by tattoo or microchip, and there are no restrictions on breeds considered dangerous, which facilitates the transport of various canine breeds.
- The owner must ensure that the following conditions are maintained: sanitary conditions and the well-being of the animal during the journey. Senasa recommends and supervises the use of containers that comply with animal welfare standards.
- Finally, it is advisable to contact Senasa staff at the point of departure of the animal in advance to coordinate the corresponding methodology and ensure a smooth transfer.
