Bundesliga rights: Sky and Dazn will soon demand more money from the fans?

It shouldn’t get any cheaper for the fans

Starting next season, the Bundesliga will receive more money from media partners than before. One question: What does this mean for paying fans?

Billions in revenue for the clubs equal higher costs for the fans? The auction for the national TV rights for the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga brings innovations to the broadcasting channels – and raises the question among fans as to whether Sky and Dazn will charge more money for their subscriptions in the future.

Bundesliga also in the coming season on Sxy and Dazn

“We have not yet made a decision about pricing for next season,” Sky Germany boss Barny Mills told the DPA news agency. The pay-TV provider wants to “continue to ensure that we offer our customers excellent value for money.”

Sky secured the most live games at the auction (the star reported). Over the next four seasons, the pay channel will broadcast 538 of the 617 individual games from the 1st and 2nd leagues offered by the DFL as well as relegation and the Supercup live and in full length, 496 of them exclusively. Sky’s football offering also includes the DFB Cup and the English Premier League.

Prices still open for fans

Dazn has also not yet made a final decision on the price and is leaving a back door open. “Even if we cannot yet provide precise information about packages and prices, we are very optimistic that the basic structure will remain stable,” said a Dazn company spokesman when asked. The provider had attracted the displeasure of fans in recent years through repeated price increases.

From 2025/26, Dazn has acquired the rights for the conference on Saturday afternoons – which will run on Sky until the end of the season – and continues to show the games on Sundays. The paid internet channel also includes the majority of the Champions League.

Sky currently costs 30 euros per month and 40 euros in the second year. This includes the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga, but not the DFB Cup and the Premier League.

At Dazn, the annual subscription with the Bundesliga and Champions League currently costs 34.99 euros per month or 44.99 euros for a monthly subscription.

Telekom offers a package with transmissions from Sky and Dazn for 60 euros per month. This also includes MagentaSport’s in-house program with the 3rd league.
