Suit scandal: Association suspends two ski jumper

Confiscate a few suits and then just keep on? The FIS has temporarily suspended two Norwegian jumpers. The processing of the World Cup scandal is still in the early stages

The fact that Andreas Wellinger and Marius Lindvik will grin together at a ski jumping ceremony will probably no longer happen. The Ski World Association FIS suspended normal hill world champion Lindvik, whose Norwegian compatriot Johann Andre Forfang and three officials of the Scandinavian team with immediate effect temporarily from participating in FIS competitions and in competitions that are organized by a national ski association.

The FIS ethics and compliance office had formally investigated the investigation due to its alleged participation in illegal equipment when jumping from the Großschanze at the World Cup in Trondheim.

FIS examines the World Cup diving suits of all Norwegians

At the request of the external investigators, the FIS confiscated all the jumps on Tuesday by Norwegian teams at the World Championships in Trondheim – both in ski jumping and in the Nordic combination, both for men and women. The suits are presented as part of the ongoing investigations for re -review.

What that has passed after the many days that have passed between the individual competitions until Tuesday is possible. It’s a beginning. Because the deliberate suit cheating of the host at the World Cup in Trondheim has left deep traces and will keep the ski jumping scene busy, not only on the RAW-Air tour, which started on Thursday in Oslo. At least the world association announced an adaptation of the attachment control in ski jumping and the combination for the rest of the season.

“The situation is of course extremely worrying and disappointing. Since the weekend, both the independent ethics and compliance office of the FIS and the FIS administration tirelessly have been working as soon as possible to carry out a comprehensive and thorough examination and at the same time to ensure fairness and a proper procedure,” said FIS General Secretary Michel Vion.

Supposed peasant victims are not enough for the competition

But what did the willful manipulation look like? Anonymous videos show how suits were illegal in a box in the Rosenborg Trondheim stadium. Suit on, stabilizing volume in, suit: The Norwegians operated around the sensitive fabric that is so important in flight. And obviously got a not insignificant advantage.

Lindvik, who occupies 13th rank in the overall World Cup, suddenly became the outstanding jumper of the World Cup. He should be able to cope with the abrupt silver as long as he stays the titles with the mixed and in the first individual. Trainer Magnus Brevig and two other fellow sequels had suspended the Norwegian association in the past few days. All jumpers and sports director Jan Erik Aalbu are said to have been unsuspecting – so the argumentation of the Norwegians.

The other associations are not enough for these explanations and a few supposedly simple peasant victims. “It is very difficult to understand that if someone has been at the top three times, it is only so much when it comes to fourth jumping again so much that they only sew a suit there,” said Austria’s sports director Mario Stecher. This is exactly what they claim in the Norwegian association.

What happens to the World Cup results?

But what happens to the World Cup results of Trondheim, where Norway’s Nordic titles cleared up titles? “It is definitely fraud. Doping may be another topic, but it is still a criminal resolution somewhere behind when you have seen the videos,” combined Vinzenz Geiger told Bayerischer Rundfunk.

In the event of a cancellation of all results, the violinist who defeated by Norwegians at the World Cup would suddenly be fourfold world champion. FIS race director Sandro Pertile said on Saturday that such a process was not foreseeable. “In principle not. We have a system – when control is finished, it is finished.” But since then the pressure on the FIS has continued to grow. For the time being, the World Association is limited to a few suspenders.

Are only the ski jumpers affected?

That is the big question. At Lindvik and Forfang, a competition was cheated knowingly, the association has publicly granted that much. But not only the ski jumper showed strong performances on the ski jump at the World Cup, but also the ski jumpers and both combination teams. The fact that the FIS confiscated the suits of all four Norwegian teams indicates at least a certain suspicion. And also the suspension of a member of the Norwegian combination service team because of a manipulated ski binding at Joergen Graabak during the team competition The combiners at least suggest that the FIS wants to make you serious.
