In this context, Royon assured that Argentina “It has all the energy resources to get ahead, and infrastructure is key to get where we want. We want our own model of energy transition. In terms of diversification of the energy matrix through gas, with the Nestor Kirchner pipelinewe are doing work in record time and with Treasury resources, and it is the first part of a gas pipeline network”.
He also explained that Vaca Muerta “will allow a productive leap, save some US$ 2,000 million this year and achieve self-sufficiency of 95% by 2024/25. The gas from Vaca Muerta will reach the north of the country, which today depends on Bolivia. In August the second stage of the Néstor Kirchner gas pipeline is put out to tender and for this reason this year the last large purchase of LNG is made. Next year the energy balance will no longer be in deficit”.
The official added that “with this network of gas pipelines, imports will be substituted with Argentine production, in addition to generating jobs, the development of various industries; and will guarantee the supply of the domestic market until 2028 and make gas exports to the world. Argentina has to take advantage of these resources that it has and guarantee the energy transition”.
“The Northern gas pipeline will cost about 700 million dollars, which will be financed with 540 million from the CAF, own funds and those of other actors; It has a work term of between 12 and 18 months, although these terms can be shortened. The energy transition is a great window of opportunity for Argentina, among other things because of the minerals it demands, such as lithium, and because we have the best places in the world for solar energy”, he highlighted.
Royon also referred to other aspects of the Argentine energy matrix, explaining that “In crude oil infrastructure there are private investments for more than 1,000 million dollarsto go from a negative energy balance of 4,500 million dollars to a balance in 2024 and positive for 2026 of 12,000 million dollars”.
“We also have works in high voltage electrical transport, with international financing. Argentina has all the resources in energy matters to get ahead, boosting gas, developing high-voltage transportation, incorporating almost 12,000 kilometers of lines and increasing capacity by 40%,” he said.
