Markus Lanz is one of the most sought-after political talk moderators in Germany. Little is known about his private life. Now it’s temporarily in focus.
According to his lawyer, TV presenter Markus Lanz and his wife Angela have separated. Christian Schertz confirmed on Tuesday at the request of the German Press Agency that the two separated some time ago. In the interest of their children, the lawyer asked that his client’s privacy be respected and that he refrain from further inquiries.

Born in South Tyrol, Lanz is one of the best-known TV presenters in Germany. He rarely talks about his private life in public. The couple married in 2011. Years before, Lanz had had a relationship of several years with the presenter Birgit Schrowange.
He presents his political talk of the same name several times a week late in the evening on the public broadcaster ZDF. In a weekly podcast (“Lanz & Precht”), Lanz talks to the philosopher Richard David Precht about social issues. The 53-year-old can also be seen in ZDF documentaries, for example about society in the USA. Lanz also moderated the former ZDF show flagship “Wetten, dass ..?”, which brought him criticism. The show was also over in 2014 because of bad ratings – since then there have been two revival editions.
