Oscars 2023 Awards: finally Lady Gaga will not sing at the ceremony

The singer is nominated for the song “Hold My Hand” from “Top Gun: Maverick.”

The executive producer and showrunner of the Oscar awards, Glenn Weissconfirmed the news that Lady Gagawho earned her fourth career nomination for the song “Hold My Hand” of “Top Gun: Maverick”will not perform during the ceremony that will take place next Sunday, March 13.

“We invited the five nominees. We have a great relationship with Lady Gaga and her field. She is in the middle of filming a movie right now. Here, we’re honoring the movie industry and what it takes to make a movie after a lot of back and forth… It didn’t seem like she could pull off a performance of the caliber that we’re used to with her and that she can do. So, she won’t be acting on the show.Weiss said.

All of this year’s other nominees for best original song at the Oscars have been confirmed for a performance at the March 12 ceremony, except for Gaga. In Oscar tradition (most years), all nominated songs are sung during the ceremony. Rihanna (“Lift Me Up”), Sofia Carson and Diane Warren (“Applause”), Stephanie Hsu, David Byrne and Son Lux (“This Is a Life”) and Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava (“Naatu Naatu”) will all be making appearances this year.

Right now, Gaga is in the middle of filming for “Joker: Folie à Deux”. Director todd phillips shared the first image of the star as Harley Quinn on Valentine’s Day with the “Joker” actor joaquin phoenix. Warner Bros. will release the film in theaters on October 8, 2024, five years after the first film was released.
