De Niro, a two-time Oscar winner, corrected a reporter who suggested he only had six children, saying: they are “seven, actually.” “I just had a baby,” she told ET Canada, without revealing the sex or the identity of the mother.
The nearly 80-year-old already shares two children with his first wife, the “Taxi Driver” co-star. Diahnne Abbott, and two more with the socialite Grace Hightowerfrom whom he separated in 2018. He also had twin children with the model toukie smithwhom he dated in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
De Niro is currently promoting his new comedy film “My dad is dangerous” (“About My Father”), which opens in US theaters on May 26.
Regularly voted among the best actors of his generation, De Niro won two Academy Awards before he turned 40.
De Niro won his first Oscar, for best supporting actor, in “The Godfather Part II” (1974), followed by another in 1981 for his lead acting role as boxer Jake LaMotta in “Wild bull”.
Other Hollywood and showbiz stars who became parents again in their later years include George Lucas, at 69, and Charlie Chaplin and Mick Jagger, both at 73.
