Florencia Ocampo became the winner of the “Cointreau Margarita Challenge”, a challenge that already has its fourth international edition and its first edition in our country. Florence will travel to the international grand final, which will take place at the end of May at the majestic Cointreau Castle in Angers, France; Whoever wins the Grand Prize will be awarded during the first days of June of this year.

“Cointreau Margarita Challenge was not only a contest, but a journey of flavors and cultures that took us from Buenos Aires to France. Being the winner fills me with emotion and pride, and now I am ready to represent my country in the international grand final, being able to bring my creativity and passion for cocktails,” Ocampo highlighted.

Lucas Rothschild obtained second place and the outstanding opportunity to be invited as Guest Bartender in one of the distinguished bars of Latin America; The third place obtained by Manuel Alba, was awarded with an exclusive kit from the brand. With The Cointreau Margarita Challenge, the iconic orange liqueur brand with a history dating back to 1849, he reaffirms his commitment to innovation, avant-garde and the art of mixology.

Organized by 3 coats of arms, The event took place at “Al Fondo Bar”, speakeasy from Piedra Pasillo, a restaurant recommended by the Michelin 2024 guide. Outstanding bartenders such as Fede Cuco and Marco Antonio Trujillo, made up a high-level jury along with the distinguished pastry chef Ana Irie.

Fernando Quinteros, marketing manager of 3 Blasones, highlighted that the selection of the Margarita as the protagonist of this global tournament highlights its status as an icon of world cocktails. Its simplicity and high-quality ingredients – Cointreau, blanco tequila, fresh lime juice and a salt rim – make it a favorite for cocktail lovers.”

“Argentine cocktails are not comparable with almost any place or city in the world, and that is pointed out by people who come from other countries. There is extraordinary creativity, the field began to grow without stopping: which is reflected every day in both young people and professionals interested in the subject. I value the audacity and style of Argentine bartenders,” said Fernando Freixas, president of 3 Blasones.

Under the motto “the flavor of your city” that sought to capture the essence of the semifinalists’ town, the selected bartenders created Margaritas, elevating the original recipe with flavors that evoked their places of origin, celebrating diverse cultures and identities. They incorporated local ingredients, methods and narratives into their cocktail preparations.

Cointreau is a French trademark for Triple Sec, a liqueur made from orange peels, both sweet and bitter. It was created in 1875 by Édouard Cointreau in his distillery in the city of Angers, France.
