San Antonio de Areco

It is located just 120 km from the Capital and It is accessible by car along National Route 8 or by bus from Retiro.

It is one of the main tourist destinations in the province of Buenos Aires, it combines history, local culture, countryside and gaucho tradition. Plaza Arellano is the epicenter of the town, surrounded by emblematic buildings such as the Police Station and the San Antonio de Padua parish.

The Draghi Family Museum and Silversmith’s Workshop displays an impressive collection of 19th-century gaucho pieces, while the Ricardo Güiraldes Gauchesco Museum, in an old ranch, is another notable point of interest.

Along the Areco River, there are craft and antique stalls, as well as restaurants and country houses that complete the experience.

Chascomús

Is located just 120 kilometers from Buenos Aires through Route 2. Its greatest attraction, the picturesque lagoon, invites you to stroll along its extensive coastline or explore it by bicycle, while enjoying charming bars and restaurants along the way.

In the main square, there are the main historical and government buildings, including the Church, the municipality and the Municipal Theater, as well as the Casa de Casco, which houses a small museum that tells local and family history.

On one shore of the lagoon, in front of the historic center, there are two outstanding monuments of democracy: one designed by Clorindo Testa in commemoration of 25 years of democratic recovery and a statue of Raúl Alfonsín, who was born in Chascomús.

It is located 82 km from Buenos Aires and can be accessed by car through the Panamericana Ramal Pilar until kilometer 69 of National Route No. 8, followed by Provincial Route No. 39, or by train combining the Miter branch with the branch to Capilla del Señor, or by bus No. 57 from Plaza Italia.

It is the first town declared of national historical interest. It preserves its authenticity and is a historical secret of the province, taking care of its original architecture and traditional lifestyle.

Among the must-see sites are the old cemetery in the center of the square, the Miralejos house, the Roma hall, the old immigrants’ social club, the Posada del Palomar from 1838, one of the oldest, the Parish Temple and the emblematic Los Ombúes grocery store, a historic warehouse today run by Doña Elsa, granddaughter of the founder.

Suipacha

Known for hosting the Cheese RouteSuipacha is located in the northeast of the province of Buenos Aires in the so-called Pampa Ondulada, a 126 km from the City of Buenos Aires on National Route 5.

The town has been producing milk since 1915 and its main attraction is the so-called Cheese Route, which is located on km 114 and 131 of Route 5, where visitors can explore various production centers, such as the historic La Suipachense, the Cabaña Piedras Blancas and Fermier cheeses, the La Escuadra pig and wild boar farm, the Quesos de Suipacha artisanal products boutique.

There is the option of taking guided group tours, although it is recommended to explore independently to fully enjoy all the experiences that the route offers.

Wolves

Located 100 km southwest of the City of Buenos Airesaccessed by car via Provincial Routes Nº41 and National Routes Nº205, or by train on the Roca and Sarmiento branches.

Its lagoon and the picturesque Costanera Municipal are main attractions, although Lobos stands out for its beautiful colonial architecture and the large number of historic buildings to visit. Highlights include the neo-Gothic-style Nuestra Señora del Carmen Church, Juan Domingo Perón’s Birthplace converted into a museum, and the Lobense Social Club, with a neoclassical façade and art deco touches.

The Lobos Railway Station, on the Sarmiento Line, still in service, is a typical English construction from 1890. Surrounding it are the Héroes de Malvinas Library, the Amateur Radio Club, the Immigrants’ Square and the Cultural Shed.
