During his escape, the young Kosovar not only endangered his own life, but also the lives of other road users who were not involved. He raced through the local area at 150 kilometers per hour and overtook several times despite oncoming traffic. This was reported by the State Police Directorate on Sunday evening.

“Extremely dangerous overtaking maneuvers”

The incident happened in the afternoon. It was around 3:35 p.m. when a patrol wanted to stop the car on Ennser Straße in Steyr. Suddenly the driver turned and drove away. The police tried to follow the fleeing car, which proved difficult. They report “extremely dangerous overtaking manoeuvres” that the 22-year-old has undertaken. Nevertheless, the officials managed to unlock it again. At the city limits in the direction of Wolfern, the man put oncoming traffic in great danger by overtaking and his rapid speed – in the local area he was measured at 150 km/h. Fortunately there were no accidents.

Fled on foot

Because of the “proportionality of the danger to third parties”, the police officers decided to keep their distance. They lost sight of the “obviously powerful car”. After an intensive search, the damaged getaway car was found, with no trace of the driver at first. The investigations finally led to the 22-year-old from Linz. The young Kosovar does not have a driver’s license. This has already been taken away from him. He is shown.
