The fact that we in Austria do not have to worry about the future of our wine quality is what convinces “the next generation” again and again! A young lady from the northern part of the Kremstal should be on the pleasure radar screen from now on: Julia Grafinger from Priel, near Senftenberg.

A degree in tourism management on the one hand and a graduate of the viticulture school in Klosterneuburg on the other hand, Julia was able to get one of the podium places in the selection of the best young winegrowers. Together with her brother Eugen she makes her own wine line. The basis of their philosophy is to produce crisp, fruity wines that are typical of their origin.

As fate would have it, after the loss of their father, the siblings had to jump in at the deep end. In the mornings, Julia works as a winemaker in the cellar, she is responsible for the entire wine production, according to the self-chosen motto “Wine-making requires intuition!”. Top ratings in various specialist magazines prove that we are on the right path. Getting the best grape material as a basis for this is the responsibility of brother Eugen, he is responsible for the 6 hectares of vineyards. There, how could it be otherwise, Grüner Veltliner is the main variety, followed by Riesling, some Roter Veltliner, Chardonnay and Zweigelt. The young winemaker thinks that she (as the host) will need more red wine in the near future.

This draws the arch to the next culinary level of the Grafinger family: the wonderfully located Heurige “Weinblick”! On fixed dates, the location is open from 3:00 p.m. The own wine and homemade from the “Selch” is offered in the best atmosphere. So Julia has her double function on these days: in the morning in the cellar as a winemaker, in the afternoon in the Weinblick as a hostess! And everywhere the already quoted philosophy comes through: “No matter what we do – we do it with flair!” We wish you continued success!
