Social network: Instagram lets you hide more comments and requests

Instagram wants to make harassment and hate comments more difficult: In the future, users should be able to hide comments from accounts that have not followed their own account or have only recently followed them.

In the future, Instagram users will be able to hide comments and message requests from people who do not follow them – or who have only recently become their followers.

With the new function, people should protect themselves in moments of intense harassment, but at the same time still be able to interact with long-term contacts, said Facebook’s photo and video platform at the announcement on Wednesday.

With this “limit” you can choose whether accounts that do not follow you or new subscribers from the previous week should be restricted. The time period for this can also be set in the privacy settings.

In a further step, users who want to post offensive or racist posts are now more consistently advised against doing so. Instagram and other social media platforms have been under pressure for years to do even more against hate speech and bullying.
