For a long time, Apple’s fall events revolved around the new iPhones. With the Apple Watch 7, Apple has another heavyweight in its luggage. The new design in particular is a real eye-catcher.
With the motto “California Streaming”, Apple hosted a virtual keynote today. And there, among other things, the new Apple Watch 7 was presented. Especially with the design, Apple has lent a hand. We reveal in which way. And what else the watch can do.
Apple Watch 7: the difference catches the eye
The new look immediately catches the eye. If the rumor mill had predicted hard edges, Apple now did the opposite – and rounded off the pages even further. In addition to the new look, the redesign has another advantage: The display has grown slightly for the second time. Instead of 44 millimeters, the larger version now measures 45 mm, the smaller model grows from 40 to 41 mm. If you come from an old watch and already have a collection of fancy straps, you don’t have to worry: because the case remains the same size, all the straps remain compatible with the respective case equivalents.
Apple Watch 7: Long Runner
A lot has happened inside as well. The new S7 chip is of course faster, although a lack of speed has long been no longer a problem with the Apple Watch. Much more exciting is the significantly improved runtime: the battery should not only last longer, but also charge 33 percent faster. Apple promises from zero to 80 percent in 45 minutes. This will especially please fans of long sports sessions, even those who track their sleep with the watch will appreciate the rarer trips to the socket. Only a test can show how long the plus in battery actually fails in everyday life.
When it comes to sensors, Apple is somewhat disappointing. In the rumor mill, blood pressure measurements or body temperature measurements had been traded for a long time. Unfortunately, neither of these functions make it into the Apple Watch 7.
On the other hand, the Apple Watch is even more suitable for outdoor use: With an even more stable display and improved dust protection, it should now also be better suited for mountain biking and the like.
