Rogozin asked Belarus to find a girl to prepare for a flight into space

The general director of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin asked the Belarusian side to pick up a girl to prepare for a flight into space. He announced this on Friday, December 3, at the EAEU business forum “Space Integration”.

“I asked the Belarusian side to pick a girl so that there was a balance in our cosmonaut corps,” Rogozin answered when asked when the preparation for the flight of the Belarusian cosmonaut would begin.

According to him, the Cosmonaut Training Center received the first candidates in the first half of 2022.

Rogozin also said that a test launch of the light version of the Angara rocket will take place in the first half of 2022, RT reports.

In October, the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces Sergei Surovikin said that two launches of the Angara-A5 heavy carrier rocket and two launches of its light version are planned from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region next year. According to him, the Angara-A5 rocket is currently being assembled, the launch date will be set on December 20.

Angara is a family of Russian environmentally friendly launch vehicles of various classes. It includes light carriers “Angara-1.2”, heavy ones – “Angara-A5”, as well as the modernized “Angara-A5M” and increased carrying capacity – “Angara-A5V”. The first launch of “Angara-A5” took place in December 2014, the second test launch of the rocket was carried out from Plesetsk on December 14, 2020.
