The world is in a difficult civilizational situation. On the one hand, a sharp increase in the industrial offensive, and on the other, limited resources. This was announced on Wednesday, December 8, by the president of the national research center “Kurchatov Institute” Mikhail Kovalchuk at the congress of young scientists.
He noted that in this regard, it is necessary to choose the correct priority of actions.
“Whatever you do, you have to choose a priority. This priority is sometimes tactical, which helps to live today. And sometimes it is strategic. These priorities are interconnected: without the first you will not live up to the strategic ones, and if there is no strategy, then in general it makes no sense to survive. And in this regard, an example of the choice of a strategic priority by our country several decades ago – 70 – clearly demonstrates the correctness of my words, ”Kovalchuk explained.
He stated that if during the Great Patriotic War the authorities and part of the scientific community would not have found the strength and intelligence to begin the implementation of the strategic priority associated with nuclear technologies, then the victory would have been completely nullified.
“Because, according to all American plans, they were supposed to deliver nuclear strikes on the main cities of our country and our country would cease to exist. What is important, when you decide on a strategic priority, you define the face of civilization for a decade. The atomic project, the goal of which was only one, was a challenge, a bomb: either you make it and we are alive or not, ”said Kovalchuk.
He noted that ensuring sustainable development requires colossal amounts of energy and resources. According to him, today the struggle for dwindling resources is the main dominant in international politics.
“Leadership today is secured by technological superiority backed by military force, and military colonization has been outright replaced by technological enslavement. And the developed countries, first of all, are becoming the objects of this colonial policy, ”he said.
According to him, the world is faced with a choice – the struggle for resources or the creation of a “plausible technosphere” that will be friendly to civilization. He noted that today energy is becoming a key issue.
“Only networks without industrial production spend 30% of energy, and digitalization means a colossal stratification of the world, only energy-rich countries can afford it,” he explained.
On November 26, Kovalchuk said that Russian technology policy, including in the energy sector, should primarily rely on scientific analysis that would help eliminate false goals. The scientist added that such an approach would be appropriate both in digitalization in general and in the creation of new materials and the development of hydrogen and cognitive technologies.
Earlier, on October 15, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that by 2024 9 billion rubles will be allocated from the state budget for the development of Russian technologies in the field of hydrogen energy. According to him, in particular, the allocated funds will be allocated for the creation of test sites for the introduction of hydrogen energy technologies in the Arctic.
