Russian spacecraft Soyuz MS-20 with Japanese space tourists on board docked to the ISS. This follows from the broadcast on December 8 on the Roscosmos website.
Docking took place in automatic mode. The crews will have to equalize the pressure in the docking compartment. After that, the astronaut – TASS correspondent Alexander Misurkin and the participants in the space flight, the Japanese businessman Yusaku Maezawa and his assistant Yozo Hirano – will board the station.
The flight participants will stay on the ISS for 12 days and return to Earth on December 20.
The manned spacecraft was launched on the Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle from the Baikonur cosmodrome on Wednesday at 10:38 Moscow time. At the cosmodrome, upon leaving the Cosmonaut Hotel, the ship’s crew was escorted to the song “Grass by the House” in Japanese. This song was recorded by the Deai duet – Japanese singer Natsuka Sugawara and Russian musician Vitaly Suntsev.
On December 7, space tourists said that for the first time on the ISS they will paint a picture with brushes on canvas. In a specially equipped sealed box, Maezawa will try to create a painting using watercolor brushes.
