Scientists have named the product that increases the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. It is reported by the Daily Express.

As a result of the studies carried out, experts have established that the onset of this disease can be triggered by sugar, the consumption of which negatively affects cognitive functions.

Researcher Christopher Ford and colleagues analyzed data from 837 patients in the Rush Memory and Aging Project to establish the link between sugar consumption and thinking.

They selected patients for whom the nutritional questionnaire was fully completed. In addition, participants had to meet the following criteria: not to give up sugar consumption, initially have no dementia, and have previously completed at least two cognitive tests.

Scientists ran 19 tests to assess thinking. They looked at the relationship between sugar intake in relation to total calories and thinking, short-term, semantic and episodic memory, orientation in space and time, and speed of perception.

They then evaluated the effect of sugar on the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. As a result, experts have established an inverse relationship between the consumption of this product and thinking, semantic and episodic memory, short-term memory and the speed of perception.

In the early stages, the main symptom of Alzheimer’s is memory loss.

So, one of the products that can reduce the risk of developing the disease, experts called a walnut, since it contains a unique combination of plant substances that support the functioning of the brain. It is noted that walnuts contain more antioxidants than any other common type of nut, they are also rich in omega-3 fats and may fight inflammation.

In addition, in order to maintain health, scientists advised adhering to a special MIND diet (Mediterranean antihypertensive diet to slow down neurodegenerative processes), which allows you to fight the deterioration of thought processes. In addition to nuts, it includes vegetables, berries, olive oil, whole grains, fish, beans and poultry.
