The launch of the Proton-M carrier rocket with the Express-AMU3 and Express-AMU7 satellites, postponed due to malfunctions, is scheduled for December 13. This was announced on Friday, December 10, in the press service of Roscosmos in Telegram.
In turn, Dmitry Rogozin, the general director of Roscosmos, noted in his Telegram channel that the rocket will be transported to the launch pad on Saturday, December 11.
The day before, the launch of the launch vehicle was postponed due to problems identified in the Briz-M upper stage. According to him, the technical management decided to calmly modify the missile system in the assembly and test building.
On November 18, it was reported that the launch of the Proton-M rocket from the Baikonur cosmodrome was postponed from December 6 to 12 due to the need to refine the upper stage. Earlier, on September 23, it became known that the satellite launch scheduled for November 8 was postponed to December 6.
The satellites are planned to be placed in a geostationary orbit – a circular orbit with an altitude of 36 thousand km – at positions 103 and 145 degrees east longitude, respectively. They must provide high-quality communications and television and radio broadcasting services for consumers in Russia and foreign countries.
“Express-AMU3” and “Express-AMU7” are manufactured by the Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems company in the interests of the “Space Communications” enterprise (RSCC).
Now the RSCC orbital constellation consists of 12 Express telecommunication satellites. It is expected to include 14 more satellites by 2030.
