Upper stage “Briz-M” with satellites separated from the rocket “Proton-M”

The head part of the Proton-M rocket, consisting of the Briz-M upper stage and two telecommunication satellites Express-AMU3 and Express-AMU7, separated from the third stage of the carrier. This follows from the broadcast of the launch on the Roscosmos website on December 13.

“There is a separation of the head unit from the third stage of the launch vehicle,” said the launch commentator.

“The total duration of the launch from the launch of the launch vehicle to the separation of the first Express-AMU7 spacecraft will be 17 hours and 50 minutes, for the second Express-AMU3 – 18 hours 7 minutes,” the state-owned company said in a statement.

The spacecraft will be re-launched using satellite propulsion systems, which include two SPD-100V engines and one SPD-140D engine. The satellites will operate in a target orbit of 54.9 thousand km. They are planned to last at least 15 years.

The launch vehicle with the Express-AMU3 and Express-AMU7 satellites was launched at 15:07 Moscow time from the Baikonur cosmodrome.

On December 9, the launch of the launch vehicle was postponed due to malfunctions found in the Briz-M. It was reported that the technical management decided to modify the missile system in the assembly and test building.
