Archaeologists have discovered historical finds in the Novgorod region at the site where the high-speed railway (HSR) rails are being designed. The newspaper “Delovoy Peterburg” writes about this on December 15.
By order of NIPII ET Energotransproekt, a historical and cultural examination was carried out on a section of 150 km of the future route 100 m wide. Experts discovered eight objects of archaeological heritage, including the III-II millennium BC. e. In addition, a number of well-known archeological monuments were discovered next to the projected route.
According to the results of the examination, it becomes impossible to carry out construction work on the planned site, but the experts interviewed by the newspaper indicated that in reality there is no threat to the project.
“As for archeology, we have an uncritical situation, in no way it will become an obstacle. If there are monuments on the site, the first examination is always negative, ”said Elena Toropova, the author of the historical and cultural examination.
According to her, in the future, taking into account the data received, it will be necessary to determine the measures necessary to start construction. So far, no information has been received from the customer on the development of sections. In addition, it is necessary to wait for the results of the archaeological examination in the Moscow, Tver and Leningrad regions.
In turn, Ivan Vergazov, a transport engineer and author of the “Fabulous Designer” Telegram channel, suggested that if archaeologists oppose the implementation of the project, the route will pass locally to the right or to the left.
In April 2019, Russian President Vladimir Putin supported the idea of designing the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed railway, which will also pass through the Tver and Nizhny Novgorod regions. The construction cost was estimated at 1.5 trillion rubles. The construction of the highway is planned to begin in 2021.
