On December 20, the website of the OVD-Info media project (included in the register of foreign agents) was included in the list of Internet resources containing information the dissemination of which is prohibited in Russia; access to it is restricted. The corresponding decision was made by the Lukhovitsky District Court of the Moscow Region, indicated on the Roskomnadzor website.
Despite this, as of 12:50 Moscow time on December 25, the Internet resource is loaded into the Russian Federation without restrictions.
Earlier, on September 29, the Ministry of Justice included OVD-Info in the register of unregistered foreign agent associations. It was noted that this was done in compliance with the requirements of the current legislation.
Prior to that, on August 27, the press secretary of the Russian president, Peskov, said that the law on foreign media agents was in effect in the Russian Federation to protect against external interference. So he commented on the appeal of journalists to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a demand to abandon the practice of including the media in the registers of foreign agents and undesirable organizations. At the same time, Peskov noted that the disputes arising on this issue can be discussed.
On August 21, the Ministry of Justice included the Dozhd TV channel in the register of foreign agents.
As reported in early June, the Moscow Zamoskvoretsky Court dismissed the claim of the online publication Meduza (included in the register of foreign media outlets), which had previously asked to declare the decision to be included in the list of foreign agents unjustified and to cancel it. The publication was entered by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation into the register of mass media performing the functions of a foreign agent in April.
According to the law “On Mass Media”, materials from foreign media that perform the functions of a foreign agent can only be posted in Russia with the appropriate labeling. Due to non-fulfillment of this requirement, protocols are drawn up with respect to foreign agents.
