Scientists have named 2021 one of the warmest in history

European scientists have named 2021 as one of the warmest on record. About this in Twitter On January 10, the European project Copernicus Climate Change Service reported.

“The past 2021 has become the seventh among the warmest years on the planet … Meanwhile, global concentrations of carbon dioxide and – very significantly – methane continued to grow,” the project said.

Experts pointed out that the level of CO2 in the atmosphere reached an average annual global level of 414 parts per million, the level of methane became a record – 1876 parts per million, writes the website kp.ru. CO2 emissions from forest fires around the world were 1,850 megatons versus 1,750 megatons in 2020

According to experts, last year the average annual temperature was 0.3 degrees above the temperature of the base period 1991-2020, and 1.1-1.2 degrees above the pre-industrial level of 1850-1900, the Federal News Agency reports.

The last seven years – the period from 2015 to 2021 – are the warmest in the entire history of observations, 2016 and 2020 remain the record holders, writes NSN.

In May last year, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center, Roman Vilfand, said that 2020 became a record warm year in almost all federal districts of Russia in the entire history of meteorological observations.
