The Promobot company introduced a new model of the Robo-C-2 robot, which is as similar as possible to a person. The head of the company, Oleg Kivokurtsev, said on Monday, January 17, that the robot can communicate with people, answer questions and broadcast various materials on its screen.
According to him, the capabilities of Robo-C-2 will allow him to work in multifunctional centers, shopping centers, airports, museums.
“One of the main features of the new model is the hyper-realistic skin that our division in Vladivostok creates. It has high elasticity and is close in its characteristics to real human skin. This allows you to move the artificial muscles of the face as accurately as possible. Because of this, the most realistic facial expressions appear, ”the source said in a conversation with Izvestia.
Another feature of the robot is the use of servo drives – electric motors developed by the company. There are about 50 of them installed in the robot.
“About 30 are found in the face and mimic the movements of the muscles of the human face. This is a very close indicator to the real face of a living character. Humans have 42 facial muscles, while a robot has about 30, the highest figure in the world today. Thanks to the elastic skin and a large number of muscles, the robot is as human-like as possible,” said the head of the development company.
Kivokurtsev also explained that the android’s hands can withstand weight up to a kilogram. He can show direction or shake a human hand.
The first version of Robo-C was released last August. Since that moment, Promobot has sold 19 robots. They work in multifunctional centers, medical universities and museums in Moscow and Perm.
In November 2021, a pilot project was launched in Seoul to use robots in kindergartens. Androids help children sing, dance and give lessons in kung fu techniques. According to the representative of the mayor’s office of the South Korean capital Han Dong Seog, in this way children are being prepared for a high-tech future.
