Facebook, after three days of blocking, restored access to the page of the Russian delegation at the talks in Vienna on military security. This was announced on Monday, January 17, by the head of the Russian delegation, Konstantin Gavrilov.
“Our Facebook account has just been unblocked. The blockade lasted three days. We hope that in the future such stupid antics on the part of Facebook will not be repeated, ”Gavrilov said in an interview with TASS.
According to him, the support of the Russian Foreign Ministry, as well as Roskomnadzor, helped to unlock it.
Earlier in the day, Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov stressed that Meta should formally explain the blocking of the Russian delegation’s page. According to him, such actions are a violation of the legislation of the Russian Federation.
The day before, Gavrilov said that on January 14, Facebook blocked the page of the Russian delegation. He noted that representatives of the delegation published on their page on the social network only statements by the Russian leadership and the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Roskomnadzor (RKN) demanded that Facebook restore access to the page and report on the reasons for the restrictions. The letter of the RKN notes that “these actions of the administration of the social network Facebook violate the key principles of the free distribution of information, unhindered access to it.”
