In Russia, the rate of growth in the number of cybercrimes has slowed down, although their number has slightly increased over the past year. This was announced on Tuesday, January 18, by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Irina Volk.

“The growth rate of registered crimes committed with the use of information and telecommunication technologies has slowed down. At the end of 2021, their number increased slightly – by 1.4%, ”she said in an interview with TASS.

The representative of the department noted that, in general, the analysis of statistical data on the state of crime last year indicates that the operational situation in the country continues to remain stable and controlled. Compared to 2020, the decrease in the number of registered crimes was 1.9%.

So, in Russia there are fewer murders and attempted murders, intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, robberies, robberies and thefts. Street crime also continues to decrease. The number of robberies in parks, squares and on the streets decreased by 17.3%, robberies – by 22.1%, and thefts – by 4%. Volk noted that in general, at the end of the year, the total number of criminal acts committed in public places decreased by 6.4%.

In addition, last year the number of registered burglaries decreased by 16.2%, theft of vehicles – by 24.8% and theft – by 13.9%, writes RIAMO.

The number of criminal acts involving minors as a whole decreased by 15.6%, in a state of alcoholic intoxication – by 8.3%, in a state of drug intoxication – by 5%, according to the website kp.ru.

Earlier, on January 14, the FSB stopped the activities of the REvil criminal community, whose members were engaged in stealing money using malicious software.

The basis for the search activities was the appeal of the competent authorities of the United States. It is noted that the FSB has established the full composition of the REvil criminal community and the involvement of its members in the illegal circulation of funds. According to the department, members of REvil developed malicious software, organized the theft of money from the bank accounts of foreign citizens and their cashing out.

More than 426 million rubles were seized at the addresses of the members of the criminal community, including in cryptocurrency, $600 thousand, €500 thousand, as well as crypto wallets and computer equipment.

Commenting on the FSB operation, Sergey Redhunt, an independent information security researcher and author of the Russian OSINT project, told Izvestia that the REvil hacker criminal community is unlikely to resume its activities.
