The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), Yandex and the applicants in the antimonopoly case entered into a settlement agreement. This is stated in the FAS statement, published on Wednesday, January 19, in Telegram.
Earlier that day, it became known that third-party services began to appear in enriched responses — special dedicated Yandex blocks (“sorcerers”). Yandex has already tested the integration of e-books from Litres, mybook and book24, service announcements from Profi.ru and YouDo, hh.ru vacancies, films from Okko into them, a representative of the search engine noted.
Yandex recognized the validity of the warning issued by the FAS and complied with its provisions. The applicants confirmed that the company has taken all necessary actions aimed at eliminating discriminatory conditions in its own search engine, ”the statement says.
It is noted that the document, after signing by the parties in the antimonopoly case, was approved by the Moscow Arbitration Court.
“Sorcerers” are called interactive responses to user requests. Technically, they can be configured for use not only by Yandex-owned services. However, according to market participants, third-party companies are not provided with access to “sorcerers”.
In August 2020, Avito, IVI, Profi.ru, Zoon, Drome, Cyan, Tutu.ru and 2GIS applied to the FAS with a complaint about the restriction of competition.
Yandex, for its part, argued that widgets are an international industry standard and do not have any advantages over regular search results.
In April 2021, the FAS opened a case against the company for non-compliance with the requirements for issuance tools in the search.
