The developer of a flying car spoke about the process of creating AirCar

The world’s first flying car AirCar has been certified and is ready for mass production. Its creator, Stefan Klein, spoke about the development of the machine in an exclusive interview with the Science and Technology program.

“I came up with the concept of a flying car. I think it came from childhood, because I grew up in a family of pilots. This is passed down from generation to generation. My grandfather started doing this in 1925, after World War I. My father designs for pilots, my son and brother are professional pilots. My childhood is my inspiration. I read a lot of books by Jules Verne,” he said.

The airmobile made its first intercity flight in June last year. It was a flight from the Slovak city of Nitra to the capital of the country, Bratislava. The successful landing was the 142nd in a row.

“I used the concept of a car and an airplane, combining them together. The flying car is a completely new model. My goal was to make an attractive appearance for both the car and the plane. The characteristics of our machine are basically the same as aircraft. They are essential for safe and sustainable flight. All modern cars are very fast, I had the same goal – to create a car that looks like a sports car, so that it is not only a show car, but also can be used for its intended purpose, ”said Klein.

The aircraft was tested according to the standards of the European Aviation Safety Agency. AirCar was tested for 70 hours, during which the car took off into the air and landed on the ground more than 200 times. Certification will allow launching mass production of new items.

“Science and Technology” is a program about the incredible discoveries of scientists, innovations and progress. Viewers will learn about organs created in space for mice and the ability to become invisible. For a complete immersion in the topic, host Mikhail Borzenkov puts on spectacular and even dangerous experiments.

The program airs every Saturday on REN TV at 12:00 Moscow time.
