RT reported six hours of ongoing cyber attacks from the United States

On February 24, the RT channel reported on new DDoS attacks on the site, which lasted for six hours and were carried out in a quarter of cases from the United States. Anonymous took responsibility for the hacks.

“RT sites have been under DDoS attacks since Thursday evening, February 24. According to reports, the attacks began at 17:00 Moscow time and continue to this day. About 27% of the addresses from which DDoS attacks are carried out are located in the United States, ”the message published on the RT Telegram channel says.

Later, a group of computer hackers Anonymous declared cyber war on Russia and claimed responsibility for a hacker attack on the website of the Russian TV channel RT.

“The Anonymous collective officially declares war on Russia… The collective brought down the website of the Russian propaganda channel RT,” the group said in a Twitter statement.

The hackers added the #Ukraine hashtag to their post.

At the moment, it is impossible to access the Russian-language version of the site.

On January 14, the websites of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food were subjected to a massive cyber attack. Hackers posted messages in which they promised to destroy the personal data of Ukrainians posted on the Web.

On February 15, the Information Security Center of Ukraine reported a major DDoS attack on the websites of the Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces of the country, Privatbank and Oschadbank. The department admitted that Russia could allegedly be behind the attack. No evidence was provided.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a televised address that, in response to an appeal from the leaders of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), he had decided to conduct an operation to protect Donbass. The Russian leader stressed that Moscow’s plans do not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories.

After that, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of hitting military infrastructure and introduced martial law throughout the country.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the operation was an attempt to prevent a global war. She stressed that a bloody war with civilian casualties had been waged in Donbass for eight years. Zakharova also stated that the war was fought on various fronts, including sanctions and information.

On February 21, the heads of the DPR and LPR, Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik, asked Putin to recognize the independence of the republics. The corresponding decrees were signed in the evening of the same day. In the presence of the leaders of the republics, the President of the Russian Federation also signed treaties of friendship, cooperation and assistance.

Since 2014, the Ukrainian authorities have been conducting a military operation against the inhabitants of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup d’état and the new government in Ukraine. At the same time, Kiev blames Moscow for the current situation.
