Chinese automakers will introduce crossovers with an oval steering wheel

Chinese automakers will introduce Changan crossovers to the public, which will be equipped with an oval steering wheel instead of the usual round one. Russian motorists will be able to see the novelty this year

Experts noted that a similar shape of the steering wheel will allow drivers to monitor the control panel instruments on top of the “steering wheel”. At the same time, experts drew attention to the fact that in the future cars will be able to be completely produced without a steering wheel.

As an example, they cited a concept car from Korea called the Prophecy. Designer Luc Donkerwolke explained that the standard steering wheel in the cabin was replaced with a pair of joysticks.

“He held his hand, and the control panel leaves. And we keep all the free space that we got due to the lack of a steering wheel. Moreover, we built the body of the car around an electric battery, because of this we have a flat, even floor and a lot of space, ”explains the designer.

Another interesting solution was proposed by Swedish designers. They turned the concept car into a complete drone with a bedroom and a sofa. The interior of the car transforms into an office for four people or even into a playground for children. According to the developers, this can become an alternative to long-distance flights, especially for short distances.

“For example, a flight from New York to Washington or from Los Angeles to San Diego takes more time than a car trip. The autopilot here has the fifth level of autonomy, which means that you are no longer a driver and you can do whatever you want during the trip. You will not need to participate in the management, the car will do everything while you are sleeping, ”explained Mikael Ljung, security systems specialist.

More details about the concept cars of the future will be told in the new episode of the Science and Technology program with Mikhail Borzenkov, which will be released on REN TV on Saturday, February 5, at 12:00 Moscow time.

“Science and Technology” is a program about the most incredible achievements of progress and discoveries of scientists, about innovations that can change the future of mankind.
