Rosatom plans to create a drug for the “ultra-precise” destruction of cancer

Rosatom plans to create a radiopharmaceutical based on monoclonal antibodies for the “targeted” destruction of malignant tumors of the prostate gland. This is evidenced by the data on the procurement website of the state corporation.

It is noted that the enterprise of Rosatom, the All-Regional Association Izotop, organized a competition for the creation of a compound of modified antibodies with the thorium-227 isotope, as well as testing their effectiveness on model laboratory animals and resistance. The work is expected to be completed this year.

The organizers expect to create a drug targeted at prostate cancer cells. This is one of the most common types of malignant diseases in men.

The researchers explain that thorium-227 has significant benefits. It has a greater relative effectiveness in “eliminating” cancer cells. In addition, during its radioactive decay, a daughter radionuclide, radium-223, is formed. It selectively accumulates in the bones and provides an additional therapeutic effect, destroying metastases.

Earlier, on Feb. 14, Dr. Amen Sibtein, Consultant Clinical Oncologist at Harley Street Clinic, named several key symptoms that indicate cancer in the body.

According to the doctor, you should pay attention to constant aching pain or aches in any part of the body. In addition, noticeable weight loss can also be a sign of cancer. Increased night sweats should also alert.

Sibtein added that bumps or swelling in any part of the body, regardless of the level of discomfort they cause, is a reason to urgently see a doctor.

Prolonged fatigue and weakness, as well as a feeling of bloating that does not leave during the day, should also be checked by an oncologist. So is coughing, which is commonly associated with colds, flu, and even COVID-19, but can be a big threat. Especially when an obsessive cough or hoarse voice does not go away after three weeks.

Russian colleague of Dr. Sibtein, Deputy Director of the N.N. N.N. Blokhin on educational activities, Alexander Petrovsky, in early February, also called for an examination in order to detect an oncological disease in time. According to him, there are no specific symptoms of oncological diseases, and pain usually manifests itself in the later stages. In this regard, only a timely examination by a doctor can help to notice cancer in time.
